The 17 piece Flat River Big Band plus  vocalist, was officially formed in 1982 and gave their first performance in the spring of that year.  Their repertoire includes swing and jazz music from the 1930’s through the present time.  We play music from the libraries of such people as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie.



We have performed at countless festivals, weddings, dances, and concert in the parks throughout west Michigan.  The Flat River Big Band has played 16 times for the Taste of Saugatuk festival. We were the opening act for the Idlewild Jazz Festival in 2008 and 2009.  We have been a featured band for the last seven years at the Big Rapids Festival of the Arts.  We have performed for the Lowell Sizzling Summer Series three times as well as the Fennville Summer Music Series, Lakeview Concerts in the Park, Edmore’s Music by the Pond, Greenville’s Rotary Park Series, Sparta Summer Park Concerts, and Big Rapids Summer Music Concerts.
